What is the Best Solution for Missing Teeth?
Losing a permanent tooth can be stressful and embarrassing at any age, whether you are young or old. If you have missing teeth, fortunately, there are several treatment options. Three common treatments are dental implants, bridges, and dentures. There is not one perfect option that will be right for every person, because everyone has different circumstances and needs. Read on to find out which option is best for you.
An implant is an artificial tooth that has been surgically inserted into the jawbone. They are a great option if you are willing to spend more. They are the most expensive option, but they also last the longest (20-25 years) and look the most natural. They are non-removable and are cleaned just like your natural teeth.
A bridge is a false tooth connected to two caps placed on teeth adjacent to the missing tooth. Bridges are ideal if you have just one missing tooth or a few which are not next to each other. They’re also considerably less expensive than implants and don’t require any surgery. Like implants, they cannot be removed but they don’t last as long and need to be replaced every 5 to 15 years.
Dentures are best if you have multiple missing teeth, especially if they are next to each other. They can be removed and are cleaned differently than natural teeth. A set of dentures will last you 5 to 8 years and are more budget-friendly compared to implants. There is no surgery involved, but they don’t always look natural.
