What Is a Dental Crown?

A dental crown is a tooth cap that covers the chewing surface and sides of a tooth. We can place one on a tooth that’s cracked or damaged in other ways. It gives the tooth new structure and strength, holding together your natural tooth material for many years.

You can get your tooth cap in one of two ways:

  • Traditional Method: You’ll come in for a quick appointment to get an impression of your tooth made. We’ll send that to a lab where they’ll create your crown. You’ll come back for another appointment, which is when we’ll bond your new dental crown to your tooth.
  • Same-Day Crowns: In one longer appointment, we’ll take digital impressions of your tooth, create your unique dental crown in our office, and bond it to your tooth. We’ll make sure it looks and functions just like new!

Even if your tooth seems too cracked or broken to function, call Aspen Dental. A new tooth cap can hold your tooth together and save the main structure, letting you avoid an extraction.

What Is a Dental Bridge?

A dental bridge is an appliance we use to replace a missing tooth. With a dental bridge, we don’t have to insert a new tooth root into your jaw. Instead, a dental bridge is made of:

  • Your new, custom-made tooth crown to replace your lost tooth.
  • Tooth crowns on both sides of the gap.

The dental bridge is anchored onto the crowns on either side of the gap, keeping it secure, so you can smile and chew normally. Your smile won’t look like it’s missing a tooth at all!
