Infant And Toddler Teeth Care

Infant and Toddler Teeth Care

Parents should bring their kids into see us at Aspen Dental of Cache Valley as soon as their first tooth comes in, or by their first birthday. After that, we like to have our young patients go on a twice-a-year appointment schedule so we can keep a close eye on their developing dental health.

As children begin this lifelong journey, we start keeping meticulous records of their development, including the growth of their jaws. This usually includes dental x-rays. We also share information with parents.

The condition of a child’s teeth can change fairly quickly. A slight change in diet or habit, like thumb sucking, may be noticeable after just six months. Some issues can make the child vulnerable to tooth decay or jaw development problems, so the sooner we can identify them, the better.

And then there are the cleanings. In addition to checkups by the dentist, we provide thorough cleanings to remove plaque. We trust parents to make sure their kids are brushing their teeth twice a day, but there are always places that brushing won’t reach.

Lots of parents wait too long to start bringing their children in for a checkup. This can have serious consequences. Kids should see the dentist twice a year, just like their parents should.

At Aspen Dental of Cache Valley, early dental care helps to identify dental problems before they get too serious. Parents from North Richmond, East Mountains, and South Highway 89 trust our family dentistry, and also come to us for complete restorative dentistry and much more.
